The geography of Chinese art districts

Actually, there are many of them.  But Caochangdi seems to have a unique story to tell.  Or perhaps the patterns of politics and land use repeat themselves.  The international gallery money menioned in this article could just have easily been the Hong Kong retail/restauranteur money that built Shanghai’s Xintiandi.
