Advice from vets

An astute reader was upset that I left her hanging about the advice that the IVAW speaker has for activists. Sorry about that.

In a nutshell, the advice was to get out in the streets. And into your congressman's office. Veterans have startd talking to congressional staffers, and their typical reply has been that since the beginning of the war, there haven't been any (many is more accurate) mass marches in the streets. Before the war, many congressmen were listening to the protesters. Now, apparently, the attitude is that we have to finish what we started.

At least that's the attitude on the hill. I should read wonkette more often to see if that's true.

'brary catch up

It's nice to come home in the evening once in a while and do a little librarian reading.

Lessig and Tweedy are pretty righteous dudes.

Did I mention I got a new tooth today?

A bunch of stuff

It's been a while, hasn't it? Here's what's been going on:

  • Work: has been busy. I should probably put the tinyblog to rest, since I don't feel very transitional anymore and there's really too much going on to list. (And really, some of the most interesting stuff isn't really appropriate for public consumption--but I do have a good story about a machine gun).

  • Garden:
    • we finally scored some laurel bushes to start filling in the gap in our hedge. Along with the gap comes a concrete fountation that I'm not sure what it's for.

    • It's tulip time. And actually, it has been for more than a week already.

    • Other bloomers are bluebells, forget-me-nots, and some orange thingies and our small purple shrub. Camelias are finishing up.

    • We really need to start killing the lawn and getting ready for raised beds in teh back--there's never enough time.

  • Helped set up and hung out at Eyes Wide Open. It was a very moving day.
  • All else is well.
